The ‘Wit’ Test At Miss Universe Phillippines 2025 Competition

The Preliminaries of the Miss Universe Philippines 2025 took place ahead of this year’s coronation night which has been scheduled for the 2nd of May, 2025 at SM Mall of Asia Arena. The Preliminaries event showcased certain segments such as the Interviews, Swimsuit, and Evening Gown competitions.

All of the 66 Miss Universe Philippines candidates showed their wits and skills ahead of the coronation night to prove their worth of deserving the crown at the preliminaries which was held on the 28th of April at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.

The preliminaries commenced with closed-door private interviews which tested the wit and talents of the beauty queens’ communication skills and tested their ability to come up with on-the-spot answers. In this part of the event, the beauty queens were encouraged to share details about their interests outside the competition, why they chose to enter this beauty pageant, and how they want to construct their lives, with aims and goals.

The interviews then proceeded to ask questions based on their biggest dreams, what advice they would give their younger selves, and why they think they should be the next Miss Universe Philippines 2025, amongst all the other candidates. The competition was delayed, which meant the beauty queens had to wait for about three hours. Originally scheduled to start at 8:00 PM, the event began at 10:45 PM, it was hosted by the Miss Universe Philippines winner of 2024, Chelsea Manalo and Erika Kristensen Lee. The preliminaries started off with the Swimsuit competition first where the beauty queens strutted and glided across the stage in beautiful lavender swimsuits and purple cover-ups.

Soon after the swimming event, the candidates changed into ravishing evening gowns to show off their elegant catwalks and dazzling outfits. This part of the event also celebrated the Filipino culture and craftsmanship with beautiful designer gowns which were crafted by a Filipino designer.

The 2nd of May, 2025, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, the winner, Taguig’s Katrina Llegado was crowned as the Miss Supranational Philippines 2025, Cebu City’s Gabriella Carballo was crowned Miss Eco International Philippines 2025, and Sultan Kudarat’s Chelsea Fernandez was named Miss Cosmo Philippines 2025. Muntinlupa’s Teresita Ssen Marquez placed first while Siniloan, Laguna’s Yllana Marie Aduana placed second.

This year celebrated and marked the third year that the MUPH Organization has crowned additional titles after the main coronation event. The initial three years as a standalone pageant, the MUHP had strived to pick only a representative for the Miss Universe competition.
